What height do instant hedges arrive at ?
Instant hedges are typically installed at heights ranging from 1.2 m to 2 m depending on the plant variety and grade selected. This provides immediate screening and structure rather than waiting years for young plants to fill in. Final hedge height will continue to increase over time but the visual and functional result is immediate from day one.
What happens in the first 6–12 months ?
The first year is about establishment, not speed. After installation, instant hedges focus their energy on rooting into the surrounding soil rather than pushing for visible height. During this period, it’s normal for growth to appear slower while the hedge stabilises and becomes resilient. Proper watering and aftercare during these months are critical for long term density and health.
